Plain version: we collect what a match needs and nothing else, your phone number stays hidden until you release it, and you can take your data and leave whenever you want.

What we collect

To create an account

Phone number, and email if you sign in that way.

To make a profile

Name, date of birth, gender, clan, phratry, state and district, education, occupation, income range, diet, photographs, and whether you or a family member manages the profile.

To keep people safe

Verification documents and selfies, reports you make or receive, and a record of moderation decisions.

Automatically

Device and connection information, and a log of profile views used for rate limiting and for showing you who viewed your profile.

Who can see what

• Signed-out visitors see no profiles at all.
• Signed-in members see your profile if it is active and neither of you has blocked the other.
• Your phone number and email are held in a separate table that the database itself will not release without an unlock you agreed to. It is not a setting we could forget to check.
• Messages are visible to you and the person you are speaking with, and to a moderator only if one of you reports the conversation.

Where it is stored

On servers in Mumbai, India. We do not move your personal data out of India.

Your rights under the DPDP Act

• Get a copy of everything we hold about you.
• Correct anything wrong.
• Delete your account and your data.
• Withdraw consent, which deletes the profile it was given for.
• Nominate someone to act for you if you cannot.

Deleting your account

Your profile disappears from the site immediately. For 30 days you can change your mind by contacting support. After that the profile, your photographs, messages and interests are permanently deleted.

Two things survive, and we would rather say so here than surprise you: payment records, because tax law requires us to keep them, and audit log entries with your identifier replaced by an irreversible hash, because we need to be able to show a moderation decision was made without keeping the person it was about.

What we never do

• Sell your data.
• Use your profile or photographs in advertising.
• Send your personal data to an advertising network.
• Use what you tell us for anything other than finding you a match and keeping the platform safe.

Contact

Complaints about your data go to our grievance officer, and can be escalated to the Data Protection Board of India.
